Spring 2016- Music Therapy sessions took place working with the CEDE foundation. Participating children explored sound, tempo and their response to different musical journeys.
The Manchester Enviromental Education Network http://www.meen.org.uk/ began working with Rodney House at our Hallam Road site to develop a sensory garden. This will support the school improvement target to improve outdoor learning opportunities in 2015/2016.
Children in Violet class developed their creative skills woking with an artist from MMU. The children developed a fantastic bug hotel and egg carton bugs!
Sensory garden development with Manchester Enviromental Education Network at our Barrass Street site to develop a sensory garden. Their hardworking volenteers have planted a range of suitable plants for the children to explore and built a bird table. This development will support the children's Understanding of the World and improve the outdoor learning opportunities for the children in Violet class.
For the third year Rodney House has taken part in the Out of School's exhibition. Working through the medium of collage each class represented land, sea and sand to create fanstastic wall hanging. The art work was displayed in the MMU gallery in July 2014. http://www.artdes.mmu.ac.uk/engagement/
Each year we take part in 'Live Music Now' concerts experiencing a classical concert at the Bridgewater Hall thanks to the efforts of the charity 'Live Music Now'. http://www.livemusicnow.org.uk/ These concerts support children's PSED development as they respond to the music and supports the development of the children's listening and attention skills.
For the past few years we have been lucky enough to attend a Christmas party at the Children's Adventure Farm. http://www.caft.co.uk/The fresh air and fantastic facilities at the farm provide a fantastic day out of the city for the childen at Rodney House.
