Rodney House Specialist Support School

Specialist Support School and Outreach Service

  1. RHOSEY Outreach
  2. Outreach for Early Years Settings and School Nursery class

RHOSEY for settings is a city wide service providing consultation, guidance and support to private, independent and voluntary childcare settings working
with children with additional needs.

We offer Early Years settings time-limited packages of support for staff. This will include strategies for effective support, and guidance around personalising learning, and guidance around using SEND paperwork and following SEND processes.

We aim to empower settings by suggesting strategies and good practice to support the inclusion of all children.

Our outreach team will work closely with Early Years settings and class team to:

  • Support Early Years Settings to assess individual children whose development is causing concern.
  • Work with the child’s key worker and SENCO on how to plan and facilitate further progress and guidance to meet the needs of the child.
  • Support the provider in identifying next steps and follow-up progress.
  • Support the setting in transition planning when necessary.
  • Support settings to ensure consistency of support to children.
  • Liaise with other professionals such as Educational Psychologists and therapists to help setting practitioners meet the needs of the child.

For a request for RHOSEY for Settings support the following criteria should be met:

  • The parent/carer and early years setting are committed to support the intervention - time is set aside for the SENCO and Key worker to meet the Outreach Teacher.
  • Strategies are shared with all staff to create a coordinated approach.
  • An evaluation is completed for the Outreach Service on completion of the support package.
  • A parental signature has been obtained, giving consent to the referral.
